After a lifetime of serving their community, Mr. and Mrs. Aseneka decided to trade in their uniforms and textbooks for gumboots and the rewarding work of farming. This inspiring couple proves that retirement isn't an ending, but a new beginning full of purpose.
A Path from Public Service to Agribusiness
For years, Mr. Aseneka was a dedicated leader, first as an Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) and later as a Member of the County Assembly. He spent his career safeguarding communities and shaping local governance. But when he retired from politics, he wasn't ready to stop working. Instead, he chose to invest his time and energy into a new passion: agriculture.
By his side, Mrs. Aseneka, a retired Deputy Headteacher, also brought her nurturing skills to the farm. After years of cultivating young minds in the classroom, she found a new calling in tending to the soil, raising livestock, and building a family business.
A Thriving Farm Enterprise
Today, the Asenekas run a successful and diverse farm that has become a model for their community. Their thriving agribusiness includes:
-
Dairy cattle: They provide fresh milk for their community and a steady income for their family.
-
Pig farming: Their growing operation helps meet the local demand for quality pork.
-
Beekeeping: They produce pure, natural honey while also promoting environmental conservation through their work.
-
Poultry farming: They supply fresh eggs and meat to local markets.
The Asenekas' story is a powerful example of resilience, teamwork, and vision. They show that with hard work and a new perspective, retirement can be a chance to start a fulfilling new venture and create a lasting legacy.
