Boniface Mwangi remains in police custody following his arrest yesterday, July 19, 2025, on suspicion of facilitating terrorist activities. This development comes as a follow-up to our earlier report on his apprehension which the DCI Kenya have confirmed.
According to a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mwangi was apprehended by detectives at his residence in Lukenya, Machakos County. The arrest is linked to alleged facilitation of terrorist activities during the June 25, 2025, protests. During the initial arrest at his home, detectives reportedly recovered two mobile phones, a laptop, and several notebooks.
Following his arrest, Mwangi was escorted to his office at Mageuzi Hub, located on Rose Avenue in Hurlingham. A subsequent search of the premises by DCI officers led to the discovery of a significant cache of items. These included nine assorted external hard drives, two additional laptops, company seals for Brave Media Ltd and Courage Ltd, a company stamp, six cheque books, and copies of stamp duty documents. Of particular concern, the search also yielded two unused tear gas canisters and one 7.62mm blank round.
Mwangi is currently being held at Pangani Police Station, where he is undergoing processing. He is expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow, Monday, July 21, 2025, to face charges related to the facilitation of terrorist acts and unlawful possession of ammunition.
This is a developing story, and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
