NIGERIA - In a dramatic turn of events, operatives of Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 93 suspected internet fraudsters during a surprise raid at the Green Legacy Hotel in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The hotel is located within the prestigious Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) complex.

The raid, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, saw anti-graft agents descend on a poolside party in a swift, coordinated operation. According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the arrests were the result of "credible intelligence" about the suspects' involvement in internet-related crimes.

Videos circulating online show young partygoers fleeing in panic as the raid unfolded. In addition to the 93 suspects detained, the EFCC recovered 18 vehicles and numerous mobile devices. The agency stated that the suspects will face charges in court once investigations are complete.

The incident comes less than a week after the EFCC's Ibadan command arrested 55 other suspects in a similar raid at K-Hotel in Itori, also in Ogun State. During that operation, a suspected internet scammer was found to be in possession of two locally made pistols.

Vitalis Ortese, the Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, confirmed the incident, stating, "Yes, they did. There was an incident this morning. We will find out and we will let you know."

The operation was reportedly executed by EFCC operatives from the Lagos Directorate, underscoring the commission's continued crackdown on cybercrime across the country.
