In a strong statement against recent Israeli strikes, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, has called for a united front from the region. Speaking to the US news outlet CNN, he emphasized the need for a "collective response" to what he described as Israeli "bullying."
"There is a response that will happen from the region," Al Thani said, adding that his country is currently in discussions with other partners to coordinate this effort. He expressed hope for "something meaningful that deters Israel from continuing this bullying," highlighting the shared concern over escalating tensions.
The Qatari leader also accused Israel of intentionally sabotaging peace efforts with its actions, saying the strike was aimed at undermining "any chance of peace." He defended Qatar's role as a mediator, stating that the presence of Hamas officials in the country for negotiations was well-known to both the Israelis and the Americans. "It’s not something that we are hiding," he said.
He further criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggesting that the strike had "killed any hope" for the Israeli hostages still being held.
This development signals a significant moment for regional diplomacy, with Qatar seeking to rally its allies for a coordinated pushback against Israeli military actions.
